Lieutenant Anthony Starzynski (Ret.) is a decorated law enforcement professional with over 26 years of distinguished service in New Jersey and current active duty experience in Florida. A seasoned police supervisor, investigator, and administrator, Lieutenant Starzynski brings unmatched operational, tactical, and investigative knowledge to every role he serves.
He began his public safety career as a corrections officer in Middlesex County, New Jersey, before joining the New Brunswick Police Department. Over the course of more than two decades with NBPD, he served in key leadership and investigative assignments, including Major Crimes, Street Crimes, and Accreditation. He supervised teams of officers, dispatchers, and administrative staff, managed critical incident responses, developed department-wide policies, and oversaw high-level investigations into violent crimes, vice, theft, and white-collar offenses.
Lieutenant Starzynski served on the Middlesex County HRT/SORT (SWAT) and the New Brunswick Police Crisis Response Unit (CRU), reflecting his commitment to operational readiness and tactical excellence. As a Police Accreditation Manager and Records Division Commander, he championed professional standards, policy compliance, and agency integrity.
He retired from the NBPD in 2021 at the rank of Lieutenant but continues to serve the public as a sworn Police Officer and Detective with the Indian River Shores Public Safety Department in Florida. In addition to patrol duties and investigations, he currently serves as the department’s Defensive Tactics Instructor, certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
A U.S. military veteran, Lieutenant Starzynski served honorably in the New Jersey Army National Guard Military Police Corps.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Caldwell University and a Master’s Degree in Human Resources from Seton Hall University.
